Part 9: Table Mountain

Definitely one of the highlights of our trip was the day we went up Table Mountain. The weather was still a bit iffy so we thought we would head for some breakfast in Hout Bay in the hope that it would improve.

After a few hours, we all agreed just to give it a go, so we headed up to the cable car station.

Such a tourist…

We got the cable, not sure what to expect or how long it took. Turns out its pretty impressively fast and we emerged from the clouds to the following view. It felt a little like we were heading straight for the cliff face! Made it all the more ‘exciting’.

Once we got off, we instantly discovered the views were absolutely spectacular!!

The cloud actually made it even more spectacular. Gave a sense of scale and atmosphere that I dont think you would get with a clear day.

Even the shop/cafereria at the top was decent and not as much of a tourist ripoff as you would expect at the top of a mountain where your options are pretty limited!

Impressive bit of machinery holding the cable cars up…

The views in every direction were pretty pleasant! 🙂

And this was taken on the way back down. Quite the way to spend a day!
