During the most recent bank holiday in the UK, we spent a wonderful Monday in Southwold. Drove out from Cambridge through some of the most idyllic English villages I have ever seen. Places like Earl Soham and the like. Sadly we didnt stop to get any photographs but its a beautiful part of the world.
As always, I was expecting some comical traffic jams being a bank holiday without a cloud in the sky, but spectacularly we made it in just over 2 hours. Once there we walked the length of the beach, walked into town and got an excellent chippy followed by a cheeky wee ice cream. 🙂
After lunch we took a stroll out along the pier and it was a beautiful view back along the Southwold beachfront. I was amazed the number of people brave enough to go swimming bearing in mind the water was absolutely baltic. But good on them, they were having a great time.
As we walked back along the promenade we saw this beautiful dog resting his head on the door of one of the beach huts. His name was “Harry” and there was another dog “Potter” who was slightly more photo shy and would pop his head up next to him, then immediately drop it back down again!
All in all a glorious day and if you get the chance, Southwold is a must visit if you are in the area.
