Spent two wonderful weeks at Kuramathi in the Maldives in June 2012. Whilst there, we witnessed an amazing sight happening by the water villas. There were a number of Reef sharks patrolling up and down the shore through massive shoals of small fish. Here are a short series of photos from that day…
The sharks kept crossing over each other, I presume they were working together to drive the fish towards each other.
The below picture shows the wider view of where this happened, not such a terrible view. Kuramathi was an absolutely beautiful island and the views were truly spectacular.
Another close up of a reef shark hunting for these small fish. I assume they got what they were looking for as there were about 5 reef sharks and about 30,000 fish so the odds were most definitely in their favour.
